MEDIA RELEASE
Columbus, GA-The Muscogee County School District’s 2022 SAT Graduation Cohort results were recently released in an announcement by the Georgia Department of Education. The District’s composite and evidenced-based reading and writing scores exceeded both the state and national averages.

We are pleased that our district’s results have once again surpassed state and national averages. Moreover, 258 more students elected to take the exam last year than in 2021, making these results all the more gratifying and a testament to their resilience. said Dr. David Lewis, Superintendent of Education.

“We are beginning to see more students choose to take the SAT again, although most colleges and universities are not requiring it to meet entrance criteria. As more students move to take the exam, there needs to be a renewed focus on ensuring students have taken the requisite coursework and are aware of the many opportunities for SAT prep through the district and College Board,” said Patrick Knopf, Director of Research, Accountability, and Assessment.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This is the sixth year’s results of the revised version of the SAT. The redesigned SAT features items to test higher-level logic and reasoning skills in reading, writing, and math and a different scoring scale from previous versions. Each year there is a different cohort of students who take the SAT, which makes it difficult to draw a comparison from one year to the next. In addition, results are contingent upon the level of coursework students pursue prior to the test administration. Since the SAT and American College Testing (ACT) allow students to sit for the exam regardless of coursework, results can vary from year to year.

*Data points labeled “Too Few” indicate the number of test takers within the specified category was below 15 and were too few to calculate per the College Board.
